CONNECT 2013 Event Submission

In fall 2012, OSU reduced our official CONNECT programming from 8 days to 4 days, with UHDS move-in and final START sessions occurring on the 2 days before CONNECT begins. In addition to the reduction of days in the 2013, the structure of days also changed.  Last year we had great success and response to these changes and will be continuing these for 2013.   

For 2013, CONNECT is occurring September 26-29, 2013.  There are certain days and times that are already dedicated to certain programs and below is an outline of the programming so far for CONNECT 2013.

There is time available for programming or to offer events in support of home games (i.e. tailgating gathering, viewing parties, etc.)


Sunday is a very quiet day, however new students are on campus and looking to do low key events.  Traditionally there hasn’t been much offered, but if you host “by invitation” dinners, receptions or lunches, Sunday might be the prime day for this.

Event Submission Forms

This year we have 3 different event submission forms which are designed based on the events/day(s) in which you want to program. You are able to submit events until August 1st and we will update our CONNECT calendar regularly between May 24th and August 1st to reflect submissions being entered and approved. 

  Submission for Academic College or Programs (events occurring Thursday between 11:30-3:20)

  Submission for programs occurring Friday, Saturday or Sunday

  (Please note events will not be accepted that program during the Friday events listed above.)

  Submissions for programs that take place the days prior to CONNECT or during the first week of classes.

  (These programs will show up on our online calendar and in the CONNECT app, but not in any printed materials.)   

New Student Picnic Table Reservation Form

This form is to request table space at the Annual New Student Picnic that occurs on Thursday, September 26th at 5:00pm directly following New Student Convcoation.

Over the years we have gotten questions about how we inform students about CONNECT events.  Below is a list of ways in which NSPFO publicizes CONNECT to new students:

  • Talked about throughout START
  • Mailer at the beginning of September
  • E-newsletter sent the week before move-in
  • Website: connect.oregonstate.edu
  • CONNECT App (through google play and Itunes), we encourage students to download at START
  • Large daily printed schedules that are put up in the MU, Dixon and Dining Centers
  • Daily electronic schedules sent to campus (this is an internal document and new this year)
  • We do not produce printed schedules for students; because we found that events are ever changing, adjusting and being added and cancelled and usually whatever was printed was out of date by the time CONNECT arrived.
